Candida Treatment for Autism?
I have a 2 year old son with Autism. I wanted to know how you go about curing candida. He is currently on the GF/CF diet. Any info would be much appreciated. Priobotics, supplements, etc…

I have successfully treated my son's yeast problem with Nystatin because his yeast infection was not high. If there is a systemic or high yeast infection, Difulcan followed by Nystatin is recommended – the doctor will make that decision.
Other antifungals are used if the yeast is a resistant strain.
Enzymedica makes a product called Candidase that will dissolve the cell wall of the yeast and allow the body to kill it. It says to take Virastop ( to kill viruses) with the Candidase. I dissolve this in some water and then mix it into a drink. My son has no problem taking this. My husband and I both take Virastop at the first sign of a cold or sore throat and watch as the symptoms disappear within 2 days. The other natural supplements like olive leaf extract taste horrible and my son will not touch it. ThreeLac is a probiotic formulated to crowd out yeast and some parents have reported die-off reactions quite fast. Give your son charcoal ( found near Tums- in the pharmacy) if you get bad die- off reaction to the yeast. The charcoal will absorb the toxins given off by the yeast after they die. Charcoal is great for gas and upset stomach. Don't take the charcoal an hour before or after medication as it will absorb the medicine.
You might also want to go on a yeast-free diet and reduce the total amount of sugars ( includes juice) and bread your son eats. One thing some people don't know is that candida likes mercury and will keep coming back until the mercury levels are low. A urinary prophyrin test will show evidence of heavy metal poisoning. Blood tests are good only if the metals are ingested recently because after some time, heavy metals go to other organs and effectively escape detection.
I know this because we did not find the mercury in my son's blood but it showed up in the urinary prophyrin test and urine testing after chelation.
For the ignorant people reading this question, she is referring to an intestinal yeast infection which is caused usually by the use of antibiotics killing off the normal flora and allowing the yeast to take over. Multiple rounds of antibiotics caused my son's yeast infection. Unfortunately, many doctors don't tell their patients to take probiotics after treatment with antibiotics thus creating an intestinal yeast infection.

My son has persistant systemic yeast. You need to add in a good probiotic (in the billions of colonies a day – we use Klaire TheraBiotic) and an anti-fungal. Most need to be prescribed by a doctor – Nystatin, Diflucan, Nizoral – and can be compounded in liquid. Just make sure it's sugar free or you're just feeding the yeast. Do a web search for natural antifungals.

The hypothesis of candida causing autism is as lame as they get. Researchers have noticed that overgrowth of candida in autistic infants is common, so they say "A ha! Candida causes autism!" It never occurs to anyone that autistic children masturbate a LOT, and that's how the fungus gets into their urinary tracts. A gluten-free diet won't help your child. Maybe pills will help, but it would be best to make sure your child's hands are CLEAN at all times.
Addendum: Why don't you shut up Jenny. I wasn't addressing you. I know your child doesn't masturbate. He is a good baby!
Anyway, people are often offended by plain truth. Look what happened to Darwin and Galileo and Freud. If you are offended by a well-meant suggestion, that in itself is evidence of its truth.
Why do you think physicians or medical researchers who write internet articles never mention anything that offends the lambs? Is it because humans are not born in sin, or is it because professionals don't want to waste time only to get huffy rejections by oh-so-wise housewives? If you want flattering answers, go to a medical answers webpage. If you want to learn what others have learned through actual experience, come to Yahoo Answers. But don't get your panties in a bunch when you find out something you didn't want to hear.

LOL… Yes Larry, I am sure her two (2) year old son is masturbating all around the house. I hear it is very common for a two year old toddler to grab an old playboy and have away. Silly Larry – And, no one here suggested Candida causes autism, but rather what cures are available for Candida (in this case, for a child with autism).
I hear few prescriptions for toddlers are out there, but probiotics (as mentioned above) are helpful and even supplements such as olive leaf extract, oregano or grapefruit seed extract might help.
